First Business Protection was originally established by First Business Finance (UK), leveraging their client base’s demand for high-quality commercial insurance alongside finance solutions. First Business Finance (UK) has delivered trusted asset finance and service provision for UK enterprises since 2008, supporting start-ups through to large corporates.

Both Read Hunt Limited and First Business Finance (UK) Limited are linked and owned by SRT & Partners Ltd, following acquisition and investment in 2024. SRT & Partners is a dynamic, market-leading broking platform founded to create a premium network of independent brokers with shared values of client service, compliance, and innovation.

As a result, First Business Protection now operates as a trading name of Read Hunt Limited, benefiting from the deep insurance expertise and FCA permissions of the group. This enhances our ability to offer independent cover, expert guidance, and robust regulatory protection for every client.

David has worked in the Asset Finance industry for over 25 years building a wealth of business, sales and management experience.

David founded First Business Group in 2008/9 and has overseen the development and growth of both the asset finance brokerage First Business Finance and the own funding portfolio company First Business Securities Ltd.

Thomas has worked in the financial sector for over ten years in several different roles, from accountant management to director level.

Thomas is the driving focus behind FBP and will play an integral role in ensuring clients receive the best service and ensuring there is always someone at the end of the phone

The combination of his market knowledge and unique personal approach gives Tony, and therefore our clients, the edge. The trust he’s forged with insurers, from small tailor-made schemes to international insurers, allows us access to a wider range of cover options to provide the perfect fit.

Akmal has over 15 years of claims’ handling experience with insurers including Aviva, Markel and Hiscox. We’ve now seen his great customer service skills first-hand, as he’s quickly built relationships with our clients as well as maintaining those with his industry contacts. With his superb interpersonal skills, Akmal’s expertise lies in subrogation and claims negotiation – and he’s always happy to take your call. Outside of the office, you’ll find Akmal studying to complete his Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) as a member of the Insurance Institute of Leeds.
